A founder network for people who don’t already have one.
Don’t have a founder network? Build one by helping and being helped. Ask a practical question, a co-founder, first users, honest feedback, a mentor, an introduction, and the useful exchanges become the relationships. Not contacts collected, not followers accumulated.
Why it was built
Founder ecosystems can be genuinely valuable. The problem isn’t networking itself, it’s access. Some people start with former colleagues, investors, mentors, accelerator alumni, university networks or family business connections. Others start with an idea and nobody relevant to ask.
NoNetwork exists for the second group too.
It is for anyone building without an established network, while the gap can be especially acute for people who did not inherit social capital through family, education or work, including founders from lower socioeconomic or underrepresented backgrounds.
It came out of the experience of trying to build without an existing founder network, and noticing how much harder ordinary founder problems become when you can’t simply ask the right person. Not a lack of effort or ideas, just no obvious door.
The question shouldn’t be: who do you already know? It should be: what do you need help with?
Why NoNetwork was created
NoNetwork was created by a founder who had no network and very little time to build one. Coming from a working-class, lower-income background, there was no supportive business network to fall back on, and nobody nearby who could advise on starting or building a business, or on the many practical details that come with it. Most of it had to be researched alone, often with AI.
Formal support helped, but only up to a point. Grow London Local was useful, yet it didn’t always answer the specific question, and replies could take weeks. The same was true when working with the NHS on a current project, the questions couldn’t wait that long. Meanwhile, asking on LinkedIn or Reddit mostly attracted people boasting about their own success, or answering a genuine request for help with an advert for their own business.
So NoNetwork was built as the place that should have existed: somewhere founders help and support one another, in good faith, especially between networking events, when a question can’t wait for the next one. It isn’t a marketing channel. It isn’t a stage for success stories. It’s where you come for advice when you can’t get it anywhere else in time.
What it offers
Structured asks
Post a real need, advice, critique, testers, team, funding questions, legal or lived experience, launch support, instead of an update nobody can act on.
Needs for you
Unanswered, relevant asks are routed to members who may actually be able to help. Not follower-ranked, and no paid placement.
Float
An underexposed ask can resurface once, for up to 48 hours from when it was first published. Never bought, never based on follower count.
Expertise & contribution
Show specialisms, experience and self-declared qualifications. Reputation leans on help that was actually acknowledged, not on popularity.
Founders, businesses & support organisations
Individual profiles alongside business and support-organisation pages, with a real person still accountable behind organisation activity. Stealth mode where it's genuinely needed.
Events, Threads & searchable answers
Meetups and online events, topic threads, and search across posts and previous responses so useful help stays findable afterwards.
Posts can be shared publicly or kept members-only, and asks can carry images, documents or links where they help someone answer properly.
Who it’s for
- First-time founders working out what to do next.
- Solo founders and builders with nobody obvious to ask.
- People outside traditional startup circles, no accelerator alumni list, no investor contacts.
- Founders who dislike conventional networking, or have no time for it.
- Experienced founders and advisers who genuinely want to be useful.
- Businesses and support organisations that respond to real needs rather than broadcast at people.
Probably not for you if you’re mainly here to cold-sell, collect followers, or post promotional content without helping anyone.
How it is different
- Post what you need
- Relevant people see it
- Someone helps
- The help gets completed and acknowledged
- Useful contribution becomes part of reputation
The intent is that NoNetwork learns who actually helps with what, rather than only who says they have expertise. That signal comes from real asks being answered and acknowledged, nothing else.
Useful beats popular
Follower count does not drive Float or Needs for you.
Paid placement does not buy priority in help routing.
The measure we care about is founders helped, not time spent scrolling. Founder participation stays free.
UK-relevant, not UK-limited
The early community and guidance are written to be useful in the UK, and London-heavy in practice. Events are naturally local. Most founder problems aren’t: a good critique of your pricing, a first tester, or an honest answer about a term sheet doesn’t require the person helping to live nearby.
The layer between events
NoNetwork does not replace meetups, incubators, accelerators, universities or local business-support programmes. It sits alongside them.
Founders can ask for advice, make a connection and build confidence before walking into a room, then keep helping one another after the event ends.
The aim is to help people show up more prepared and, where they choose, already knowing somebody.
